Event Report: Frank Tyler
If darkness and suffering invite contrast, then 2020 and Covid-19 provided a wonderful back drop for the light of Jesus and His promise of eternal life.
In 2020, the Promise of Life Café changed its manner of service to meet social distancing mandates and then partnered with the Sequim Food Bank to serve free meals to families in need. Blessing others in the midst of a pandemic requires teamwork. A special thank you to Jess Pankey of Clallam County Environmental Health for her knowledge and insight on safely serving the public and to Andra Smith of the Sequim Food Bank for affording TTVF the opportunity to bless their patrons. Both of these women are outstanding leaders. The True Vine Fellowship looks forward to serving free burgers at the Sequim Food Bank throughout the summer of 2021.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, this year witnessed the purchase of a carwash trailer for the Bremerton and Sequim Community Carwashes. Although no carwashes were possible in 2020, the trailer is fully equipped and waiting for 2021. The Lord willing this trailer will be used heavily to support youth ministry and share the gospel in Bremerton, Silverdale and Sequim.
Sadly, the Give Back to the Community Concert could not meet social distancing mandates and was cancelled; mark July 25th, 2021 for an afternoon of music, kid’s games and free burgers to support Obria. Likewise, checkout this year’s Ministry Prospectus and join the National Day of Prayer (May 6th),Skate‘n Burger (TBA), and Family Fun Fest.(August 28 th).
A special accommodation to the Beguelin, Palenik, and Dennis small home fellowships for their faithfulness through an extraordinarily challenging time. Not only did they feed and tended their flocks, but did so while abiding social distancing mandates. The coming New Year 2021 bodes well for outreach with these fellowships.
Unfortunately, darkness and suffering can also invite drifting away from our Lord and Savior. As God’s ambassadors may we consider the words of our brother Paul: Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand (Philippians 4:4-5).
